Overview
Whether you have already chosen your Diamond aircraft, or are still evaluating which aircraft is right for you, we want to work with you to help you make the best choices. The Diamond Aviation Insurance Program, offered in partnership with nationally recognized A-rated insurance companies, and broker Eastern Aviation Insurance, offers you very competitive rates - and some attractive terms and conditions you are unlikely to find anywhere else.
If you are an experienced pilot, you already know that buying aircraft insurance is a bit more complicated than insuring your car, for example. If you are new to this market, you may not even know what questions to ask, and what a favorable policy should be able to offer.
With the Diamond Aviation Insurance Program, we want to offer you a one-stop shop, with outstanding customer service, rates that leverage your Diamond's excellent safety record, and special terms only available through this exclusive partnership.
Whether you are planning to fly your plane privately, or put it on leaseback with a Diamond Flight Center; insuring the aircraft personally or in a business; the Diamond Aviation Insurance Program can be the vehicle to get you the competitive rates and benefits you deserve as a Diamond Aircraft owner.
Diamond Aviation Insurance Program Overview:
Diamond Aircraft is known throughout the insurance industry for its excellent safety record - for more information, see here, and for its good reparability. As a matter of fact, Diamond aircraft are among the cheapest aircraft to insure.
Independent of any special program, you can therefore get very competitive quotes on your Diamond from most brokers - unlike some other planes, where a company-supported program may be necessary to make insurance affordable, especially for less experienced pilots. At Diamond, though, we always strive to do more - which is why, after reviewing the market, we have partnered with Eastern Aviation Insurance and nationally recognized A-rated insurance companies to offer the Diamond Aviation Insurance Program (DAIP.)
The program offers unique terms, rates and benefits to both Flight Training Organizations and leaseback owners who place their Diamond on a flight line - and to individual pilot-owners. Be sure to compare the benefits listed below to your requirements - and judge for yourself whether this program adds value to your Diamond purchase.
Diamond Flight Center Benefits
Under the DAIP, qualifying Flight Training Organizations - those that are approved, after audits, as Diamond Flight Centers - can receive exclusive benefits that include:
- No deductible for first occurrence during policy period
- Very competitive pricing - especially on the Diamond aircraft on their flight line, but also on other types
- Negligent instruction coverage - which may not be available at all under some other programs
- Life insurance policy for instructors - again, an element unique to this program
- Exclusion of Fellow Employee Endorsement
- Non-Owned Coverage and Joint Waiver of Subrogation for program participants
DAIP is able to offer these benefits not only because of the Diamond aircraft's excellent safety record - but also because we audit our flight training partners rigorously, before they earn the designation of Diamond Flight Centers. For more information about becoming a Diamond Flight Center, click here.
Diamond Owner Benefits
Individual aircraft owners are looking at benefits like:
- Policy credit option for recurrent training at Diamond Flight Center's
- Very competitive pricing
- Attractive liability coverage - with available $2 million smooth coverage for qualifying experienced pilots
- Additional coverage for aircraft placed on leaseback at Diamond Flight Centers - with a unique option of obtaining a $1 million smooth limit for owner use, even on leaseback planes
- Higher available limits with higher or no sub-limits for persons and/or passengers
- Broader terms and conditions.
Diamond Aviation Insurance Program Overview:
Aircraft insurance rates are driven by many variables: the type of aircraft -including its safety record and how easy it is to repair in case of damage, whether it is used for personal or commercial purposes, the ratings held, total flight time, time in make and model by the pilot(s) flying the plane, the amount of aircraft liability insurance needed and any available discounts based on these variables will have a great effect on the cost of the policy. Half of the battle to purchasing aircraft insurance is working with the right agent or broker. The Diamond Aviation Insurance Program has already done that part for you, by putting in place a partnership with a broker committed to customer service, and dedicated backing by a top aviation insurance underwriter. (The broker works directly with you on your application, then submits it to one or several underwriters, who will actually provide the financial backing of the policy, and who will be responsible to pay any claims that may occur.)
Note that, in contrast to car insurance, you can only work with one broker in aviation, due to an agreement between most underwriters and brokers to only quote one given risk/case once. That's why starting out with a good broker is important - you can switch later on, of course, but it is more difficult and can involve quite some paperwork.
Hull Insurance
General Aviation insurance companies base costs upon the agreed value of the aircraft. One of the bigger components of airplane insurance is what is known as physical damage coverage, which protects the body of the aircraft. Your policy should be based upon the airplane's current market value - i.e., what it would cost you to replace the plane.
Liability Insurance
Aircraft liability insurance provides protection for property damage or bodily injury to people other than the policy holder or those named within ("Third Party Coverage"). And unlike your home or auto insurance, there are a number of stringent prerequisites used for obtaining increased limits in coverage - many underwriters require advanced experience like an instrument rating and more than 500 hours' flight time to obtain the most favorable rates and coverage. In many cases, liability coverage is limited to $1 million total, with a sub-limit of $100,000 per passenger, especially for less experienced pilots. If you are a more experienced pilot, you may be able to get coverage of $2 million 'smooth' - i.e., without sublimits - to protect your assets; be aware that only select underwriters offer such coverage, and only to more experienced pilots.
Broker and Underwriter Background: Eastern/AXA
Insurance for the program is provided through three separate entities:
- The BROKER - After an exhaustive nationwide search, Eastern Aviation Insurance Services ("EAI"), was chosen to represent Diamond. EAI actually designed the program which we feel is the most innovative the industry has ever seen. EAI is an independent broker which is a sister company to Eastern Aviation Fuels who is the national distributor of Shell aviation fuel. It's President, Terry Britt, is highly experienced in both aviation and aviation insurance. For more details about our broker / advocate please refer to their website www.diamondaviationinsurance.com.
- The COMPANY - AXA Insurance is one of the largest aviation insurance companies in Europe. They currently write the products liability policy for Diamond Aircraft worldwide. They are an AA S&P and A- Best rated company with $120 billion in revenue, one of the largest insurance groups worldwide. They also own Equitable Life Insurance. AXA is excited about this opportunity to strengthen their entry into the US aviation insurance market.
- AXA is represented in the US by Britt / Paulk Aviation Underwriters, their GENERAL AGENT. EAI and Britt / Paulk have an excellent working relationship. The high level of service Britt / Paulk provides makes our program very "user friendly".
EAI chose AXA as the exclusive company for the program. The exclusivity of the Broker and Company is the reason we have a program that offers real savings and added value. To our knowledge a program of this type has never been offered in the aviation insurance industry. This insurance program is as progressive as our aircraft.
Rate Indication
Insurance rate quotes are always a very individual matter - as they take into account a pilot's flying experience, his/her background - from profession to age to location he/she lives, as well as many factors about the aircraft and its use - from hull value to model year, from type of use (personal, business, rental/training) to expected hours flown, to location it is located most of the time, and type of parking (T-hangar, community hangar or tie down outside.)
Rates also change, depending on market conditions - which range from anything like industry losses overall (think hurricanes) to number of insurance companies willing to underwrite a given risk any given month.
Because of these factors, the best way to get an idea what you would expect to pay is to get a personalized quote from an experienced broker.

Insurance FAQ's:
How long will it take to get a quote?
Most individual aircraft quotes can be done in a matter of minutes. More complex DFC quotes will take no more than 24 hours.
Do I need to release my current agent in order to get a quote through the Diamond Insurance Program?
You do not necessarily need to release your current agent. You do need to sign a form letter giving EAI the exclusive right to represent you to AXA. The process is easy - just complete the Broker of Record form you can find here, and fax it back to Eastern Aviation Insurance at 770-978-4868, or scan and e-mail to Info@diamondaviationinsurance.com.
Can my current agent get a quote for me through AXA?
Your current agent can probably get a quote for you through AXA. The quote will not however be through the Diamond Insurance Program. The program is exclusive to EAI and no other agent has access to it, it's pricing or endorsements.
How long will it take to bind coverage?
The binding process is virtually immediate. You can expect to receive a binder within hours of your binding order. EAI does not require program participants to pay in advance of binding.
Are payment plans available?
EAI provides several payment plans through Premium Finance Corporation, including quarterly pay. For DFC's with six or more aircraft a monthly reporter form is also available.

Testimonial
Premier Flight Academy, Cleveland, OH - Marc McKee, Owner
"Utilizing the Diamond Aviation Insurance Program to renew the insurance for our Diamond Flight Center this year was a really good move for us. Not only was the process really easy, but the agent beat every rate like he said he would, and after our initial contact he was at our Diamond Flight Center the next day! The responsiveness has been unparalleled so far."
"The DAIP gave us the involvement we always wanted in an insurance program. One example is the ability to actively participate in setting the minimum time requirements for dispatching aircraft to our over 300 renters and students. This is something we were never able to do before, and it allows us to better serve our clients and strengthen our business. Although the agent had some pretty strict standards, he was more than willing to work with us, as long as we meet and continue to maintain the standards set forth in the DFC program."
"We are operating a mixture of Diamond, Cessna and Piper aircraft on our flight line and we received rates that were better than we could ever imagine. This program also allows us to pay on a month to month basis, instead of having to finance our whole premium, which saves our aircraft owners thousands of dollars."
