Practice makes performance
The idea of the formation-flight was to show what Diamond Aircraft stands for. Passion of Flying, Environmentally Friendly, Precision …. in a Diamond-shaped formation. For the Diamond-factory pilots this was an easy way to understand the task but a challenging endeavor to fulfil, as this is not our daily business. A 4-ship formation is especially challenging, as symmetry can be easily spotted from ground and flight attitude changes need to be performed synchronized on highest level of precision.
Our pilots practiced the Diamond formation flight almost every day for two weeks and it payed of. The training and a professional teamwork of a fully committed team gave them the confidence to enjoy the show at Red Bull Air Race in Wiener Neustadt from above and feeling the dignified atmosphere in front of the great and enthusiastic Austrian audience.
Of course we also gave the audience the opportunity to get really close to one of our beloved Diamonds. The magnificent DA62 with a beautiful Red Bull Air Race paint scheme was the jewel in the crown.
