Wiener Neustadt, Austria / Reno, Nevada — Diamond Aircraft and AirMax Patrol today announced the signing of an acquisition agreement for a Diamond DA62 MPP special mission aircraft by the Utah County Sheriff’s Office, further expanding the operational footprint of the DA62 MPP within the United States law enforcement aviation community.
The Sheriff’s new DA62 MPP will be outfitted with an advanced, long-range imaging system that combines high-definition color and thermal infrared sensors in a single stabilized package — enabling deputies to identify and track subjects, coordinate ground response, and maintain continuous situational awareness across the county, day or night, all from altitudes that make the aircraft effectively inaudible from the ground.
Also included in the design is an airborne emergency location and communications system that can be deployed across one of the most geographically demanding counties in the American West — from the 11,751-foot summit of Mt. Timpanogos to the open waters of Utah Lake — where Utah County Search and Rescue respond to more than 100 missions annually. The new DA62 MPP will be capable of detecting and establishing two-way contact with mobile phones in these remote areas that are beyond cellular network coverage — allowing deputies to quickly locate lost or injured persons and communicate with them by voice or text as they direct ground teams to the rescue site.
