Diamond Aircraft Industries Inc, London - Canada Technical Writer (Intermediate/Senior)

This position requires an adept writer to prepare, review, revise and maintain technical publications including aircraft flight manuals, maintenance manuals, service bulletins and parts catalogue. The selected candidate will analyse and collect technical data and product information from various sources to prepare new or revised technical publications. In technical writing of the manuals, you will determine the most effective method for the maintenance of the equipment, taking into consideration safety, certification, cost, and operational requirements.

Responsibilities

  • As a Technical Writer, you will research, write, revise and update Aircraft Technical Manuals, as required for the Diamond Aircraft product line:
  • Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM)
  • Wiring Diagram Manual (WDM) – Included in the AMM
  • Fault Isolation Manual (FIM) – Included in the AMM
  • Aircraft Illustrated Parts Catalogue (AIPC)
  • Airplane Flight Manual (AFM)
  • Operating Checklist and Flight Information Manual – based on the AFM
  • Structural Repair Manual (SRM)
  • Service Bulletins (SBs)
  • Temporary Revisions for the AMM and AFM
  • Liaise with Engineering and Customer Support to ensure all technical publications meet the requirements.
  • Coordination with offsite contractors as required
  • Perform all work in accordance with Health and Safety policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills

  • College diploma in aerospace or equivalent, combined with a minimum of 5 to 10 years relevant experience in aircraft maintenance and system troubleshooting.
  • You must have good computer skills and the ability to read and understand engineering documentation including engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, functional test procedures and software specifications.
  • You must have the ability to write concisely and clearly, and to organize subjects to produce user friendly and cost-effective maintenance procedures.
  • Good working knowledge of ATA and GAMA specifications, Simplified English and technical writing policies and procedures are required.
  • Experience authoring with WordPerfect, MS Word, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Illustrator, and some familiarity with SGML/XML, and S1000D Specifications.
  • Aircraft flying experience would be an asset.
