Five Diamond Aircraft DA40 NG for Ethiopian Airlines

Ethiopian Airlines (Ethiopian) expands existing training fleet with five new DA40 NG. The airline now operates 18 training airplanes from Diamond Aircraft, 16 single-engine DA40 and two DA42 twins as well as two Diamond Aircraft simulators for the preparation of their pilots.

Ethiopian is currently implementing a 15-year strategic plan called “Vision 2025” that will see it becoming the leading aviation group in Africa. With the purchase of additional Diamond Aircraft planes, meeting highest demands in state-of-the-art aviation training, Ethiopian is not only operating the most modern airliners but also the most modern training aircraft.

Equipped with Austro Engine AE300 turbocharged jet-fuel engines, Diamond planes are perfectly suited for the African market, as in Africa AvGas is hardly available and often at multiple the price of jet fuel.

“We are happy to be part of Ethiopian Airline’s modernization plans,” says Amila Karagic, Sales Director Civil Aircraft Sales, Diamond Aircraft Industries GmbH. „Our products are the safest in their class and combine modern composite airframe design, state-of-the-art avionics similar to those used in airliners as well as highly efficient modern engines. Over the past six years, Ethiopian has been enjoying all of these advantages and has again considered Diamond Aircraft to be the best choice for their operation.”

Diamond Aircraft offers flight training organizations a full range of modern, safe, efficient and reliable single and twin-engine aircraft, along with high fidelity Diamond Simulation flight training devices, and corresponding maintenance and pilot training.
