Responsibilities
- Organize/lead the certification activities of Diamond Canada products with Transport Canada and foreign airworthiness authorities.
- Manage issues, actions and reports for certification programs and validation activities.
- Monitor in-service occurrences, conduct timely assessments of issues potentially impacting the safety of the aircraft.
- Lead investigations of in-service difficulties, by liaising with relevant internal teams to determine root cause andrecommend any necessary mitigating/corrective action.
- Be the main point of contact between the company and Transport Canada on the status and outcomes ofinvestigations impacting the safety of the aircraft.
- Provide guidance on internal company procedures related to airworthiness processes.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to intermediate and junior airworthiness staff on all aspects of airworthiness.
- Lead the development, improvement and management of the Airworthiness Control System at Diamond Canada.
- Perform all work in accordance with Health and Safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Minimum 10 years of relevant industry experience.
- Experience in the certification of aeronautical products or changed aeronautical products following procedures defined in CAR 521 and associated guidance.
- Knowledge of EASA Annex I (Part 21) regulations and associated guidance.
- Direct experience working with domestic and foreign regulatory authorities such as Transport Canada / FAA /EASA.
- Experience working in a delegated design approval organization.
- Experience in the development and improvement of airworthiness procedures.
- Experience in leading occurrence investigations, performing risk assessments to determine safety impact on the fleet.
- Experience in the engineering and design of aeronautical products.
- Knowledge of AWM 523 / 14 CFR Part 23 / EASA CS 23 requirements
- Knowledge of international bilateral agreements between Transport Canada and other foreign authorities.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical experts, program managers, and executives.
- Understanding of basic engineering and design principles.
- Possess good understanding of aircraft related technical publications and manuals.
- Possess project engineering competencies.
- Excellent communication, social and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in PC use; including Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Project Applications.
- Independent, self-motivated and organized.
- Strives to achieve a high level of quality and productivity.
- Highly adaptable to effectively deal with changes.
Working Relationships
- Engineering: provide consultation and guidance on interpretation of regulatory matters and the certification process.
- Customer Support: analyse feedback from our customers regarding design and certification issues.
- Regulatory Authorities: provide communication and coordination to ensure appropriate level of involvement in the projects and timely completion.
